The AS / NZS 3760 Standards provide suggestions for electrical testing and tagging frequencies below, a “rule of thumb” for test and tag intervals. At the very least, it should be considered as a minimum requirement.

Here are the basic intervals that you should know about

  • Construction & Building
  • Demolition
  • Electrical hire equipment must be checked before being put up for hire
  • Factories
  • Production
  • Warehouse
  • Schools
  • Offices
  • Office Kitchens
  • Any place where equipment and wiring are susceptible to abuse/misuse
  • Hotels
  • Motels
  • Resorts
  • Server rooms or where equipment and wiring are not susceptible to abuse/misuse/cable flexing

As part of the test and tag regulations in NSW, a record must be kept of each test until a new one has been conducted or the item has been permanently removed from the workplace.

Each test may be recorded correctly in the form of a tag on the equipment and must include:

  • The name of the competent individual who performed the inspection
  • The date of the inspection
  • The date of the next inspection
  • The outcome of the test
  • The site the test was performed at

Your business will be provided with a full report on all testing carried out, in addition to the tags provided.
