The AS / NZS 3760 Standards provide suggestions for electrical testing and tagging frequencies below, a “rule of thumb” for test and tag intervals. At the very least, it should be considered as a minimum requirement.

Here are the basic intervals that you should know about

Construction & Building
Demolition
Electrical hire equipment must be checked before being put up for hire

Factories
Production
Warehouse

Schools
Offices
Office Kitchens
Any place where equipment and wiring are susceptible to abuse/misuse

Hotels
Motels
Resorts

Server rooms or where equipment and wiring are not susceptible to abuse/misuse/cable flexing

As part of the test and tag regulations in NSW, a record must be kept of each test until a new one has been conducted or the item has been permanently removed from the workplace.

Each test may be recorded correctly in the form of a tag on the equipment and must include:

The name of the competent individual who performed the inspection
The date of the inspection
The date of the next inspection
The outcome of the test
The site the test was performed at

Your business will be provided with a full report on all testing carried out, in addition to the tags provided.
